Can not blame who won’t be longing
Far from lover sleepiness won’t allow the eyes to close
Can not blame who won’t be sad
Being apart for a while and can not see
Believe in me, be strong
Lovely girl, please wait for me
The fans applauded the arrival of The Godfather of Broken Heart, who sang a lyric without music on the JIExpo stage in Kemayoran, Jakarta, after a heavy rain.
The Godfather of Broken Heart — the fan’s nickname for Didi Kempot, campursari singer from Solo — was able to sedate the stage at that time. Various facial expressions enhanced to the warmth of the atmosphere. Longing and broken hearts blend into one through his Javanese language songs.
Didi Kempot started his career in music in 1989. “Stasiun Balapan” and “Sewu Kutho” are few of his popular tracks at that time. However since the youth seemed to be affected by western trend of pop music few years ago, these songs have not been played for sometime.
Recently his name has returned in the Indonesian music scene after the event at the Balekambang Park in Solo and at “Ngobam” (Ngobrol Bareng Musisi), a program about music presented on Gofar Hilman’s YouTube channel on July 20, 2019. The popularity of this campursari singer who was born in Surakarta, 31 December 1966 is inseparable from the role of Rumah Blogger Indonesia, where his fans gathered for the first time to innovate by appointing Didi Kempot as The Godfather of Broken Heart.
Slowly Lord Didi’s campursari music, which almost all of the lyrics tell about heartbreak, possessed the millennial and was able to infiltrated across generations.
